EXCLUSIVE! Jackie's Fifth might not close after all?

We've reported, or, rather, lamented, the closing of Jackie's Fifth Amendment on this site, before. Jackie's--the quintessential dive bar, and one of the few remaining in Park Slope--announced recently, that they were going to shutter on September 14. In case you don't have your calendar in front of you, I'm here to tell you that September 14 is Saturday.

So,last night, while sitting around with a group of half-drunk friends, the topic of conversation turned to Jackie's. Because we didn't have a good wi-fi signal, we decided to call Jackie's to have them remind us of the date. The person who answered the phone told us that there was some sort of party planned on Saturday, but that this whole business of closing might just be a lot of baloney. When we asked if they were closing on the 14th, we got the answer: "If you believe the rumor.  I'm not sure I do.”

So, are they closing?  Are they not closing?  I suspect it'll depend on whether it's possible to dislodge the regulars from their bar stools.
