Cops Allegedly Refused Stoop Surveillance Tape In Park Slope Attack

Internal Affairs Bureau investigators are looking into allegations that the police from the 72nd precinct who responded to the March 20th attack of a woman on 16th street did not accept the surveillance tape that a neighbor was trying to hand over upon their arrival.

Via The Post:

"Ray was telling the police, 'I have the tape, I have the tape,' " said neighbor Donald Harrington. But cops said "they weren't interested," Harrington added. Law-enforcement sources who confirmed the IAB probe said the cops who responded notified 911 that the March 20 call was "unfounded" after being unable to locate the woman.

Wow....just wow.

The victim did call police to report the attack a few hours later, and followed up after ten days went by with no word from them. She was told at the time that the case had been labeled, improperly, as "closed" (!!???) It was only when the woman was later interviewed by a detective that the surveillance tape was requested.

Also important to note: The man who was arrested late Tuesday in connection with Saturday's assault on a woman in Greenwood Heights was NOT positively identified as the attacker by victims of three additional assaults in Park Slope and Sunset Park. So please, Slopers, continue to WATCH THE HELL OUT AND BE CAREFUL!
