Climbing Gym Is Happening

Brooklyn Boulders, a new climbing gym in the old Daily News garage on 3rd Ave and DeGraw, is opening to the public in a couple of weeks. The gym apparently has 30 foot ceilings and 18,000 square feet of cool ass climbing options.

Now, I'm not into shit like this AT all, but Thrillist's description of the joint even has my ass intrigued:

"Boasting "probably more climbing wall area than all other walls in the five boroughs combined", BB offers five separate staging areas for everybody from hardcore monkeys ("negative slope" out-facing courses, upside down arches, etc) to weekend dabblers, in the form of several straight vertical ascents scalable by the scrawniest of men, even when not chased by Laser."

I'm not even sure WTF that means, but it sounds kind of rad.

You can blow $20/day there to climb your heart out with your own equipment, or $30/day if you use theirs. But I'm guessing most of you rich, spoiled Park Slope climbing bitches will be opting for the $5,000 lifetime membership. Duh.
