[Cheap Park Slope Eats]: A Burger At Dram Shop
You might be able to get a less expensive burger elsewhere in the neighborhood, but as a value proposition, I defy you to do better than the $10 burger at Dram Shop. Their burgers are completely and totally delicious. According to their website's menu, the recipe for their burger is a closely guarded family secret that originated in Dallas, Texas, and has made its way to Park Slope. Eat just one of those burgers, and you're going to be wondering what it would take to marry into that family.
Yeah, you can get a cheaper burger at McDonalds, but the chemical composition of the meat in that burger is probably about one proton away from plastic. You could get a pretty good burger for less at 5 Guys as well, but a supremely greasy burger that's been wrapped up and then smashed down by hand is not for everyone. But I'm not talking about a fast food chain burger in the first place.
The kind of burger I'm talking about is a burger that is crushingly gratifying, well-seasoned, flavorful, juicy and is served in an environment where you can eat sitting down with an accompanying pint of beer. That is the burger you're going to get at Dram Shop for $10 (and they don't charge you extra for cheese).
As another point of comparison, 200 Fifth has a "bargain menu," and their burger is $10.50, which is fifty goddamned cents more than the burger at Dram Shop, and not nearly as good.
OK, everybody! Let's go to the Coinstar machine and get some paper money, so we can all go to Dram Shop and have a delicious burger!
