Brooklyn Photography Exhibit Calls for Entries!
All of that excessive Instagraming that you do may finally pay off (if you're able to put down that phone for two minutes to read this). You know those poetic sunset photos of the Manhattan skyline that you take while riding over the bridge during your commute home? They may soon be on display out in public, because this month Brooklyn-based amateur photographers have a chance to have their work exhibited IN REAL LIFE.
From now until Monday, June 18, you can submit your amateur photos to the East River Ferry Photoville exhibit for consideration to be featured in their 20-foot shipping container gallery, which is located on the uplands of Pier 3 on the Brooklyn Waterfront. Entries must include a shot of the East River Ferry vessel or be taken from the East River Ferry, which has views of the Manhattan skyline, and both the Brooklyn and Queens waterfront.
On Friday, June 22, an opening night reception sponsored by the Billybey Ferry Company (who operate the East River Ferry), will celebrate the lucky photographers selected, whose work will remain on view through July 1.
Aside from the photos, Photoville is hosting lectures, hands-on workshops, nighttime projections and a camera greenhouse. If that isn't enough, they're also seducing us with their summer beer-garden complete with food trucks at Pier 3.
So get your entries in before next Monday because I want to marvel at your skills over an ice-cold ale!
