BareBurger and KiKu Asian Bistro looking to add outdoor seating
I'm one of those people who hates outdoor seating. No matter what the weather, no matter what the space is like, I'm always a bit uncomfortable (it's the bugs...there are always bugs).
But obviously I'm in the minority, because every time I turn around, another restaurant offers me outdoor seating. And come Wednesday, there may be even two more options in the Slope.
BareBurger (170 7th Ave) and KiKu Asian Bistro and Sake Bar (2 Lincoln Place) have applied for Sidewalk Café licenses. If all goes well, BareBurger would add add 16 tables and 32 seats, while KiKu Asian Bistro and Sake Bar would add 11 tables and 26 seats.
Both locations certainly could use the outdoor seating, though for incredibly different reasons. The terminally-crowded BareBurger desperately needs extra seating to help with the crowds. Meanwhile, some outdoor seating might help attract the crowds to KiKu, which seems to have been pretty empty since opening in January.
Either way, they'll find out their fate at the Brooklyn Community Board 6's Permits and Licenses Committee Meeting on Wednesday, May 30th at 6:30PM at the 78 Precinct (65 6th Ave).
Any objections to these two locations having sidewalk seating? Anyone care?
