Ain't Nothin' Gonna Break My Stride: The PPW Bike Lane Is Going Nowhere

Photo via Bike Blog NYCWassah bitches! After lots of drama surrounding the fate of the PPW Bike Lane, a decision has finally been made! Yesterday Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge Bert Bunyan dismissed the lawsuit to remove it. Basically, Neighbors for Better Bike Lanes and Seniors for Safety waited too damn long to formally bitch. The statute of limitations to challenge the lane had expired.

Jim Walden, pro bono attorney for NBBL and SFS had this sore loser-y comment to make:

The judge had a very different and very independent view of the facts-in fact, than either party.

Oh Jim, you guys know about different views on facts. Remember this shit?

My bro, Brad Lander (the bastion of common sense) summed it up nicely:

I don't think either of us -- on either side of the debate -- thought we would be spending so much time debating one mile of green paint inside or outside the courtroom.

I consulted with a key player in this bike lane drama: The Magic 8 Ball. When asked if Judge Bunyan made the right decision by dismissing the lawsuit, M8B gave an emphatic "YES!" I followed up with the inevitable: "Do you think this is the last we'll hear of NBBL and SFS. M8B replied: "My sources say no."

You may be right, M8B. I won't hang up my keyboard just yet.
