Erica, Benjamin - seriously, dudes, do an exposaaay on the nazi co-op. I applied for a job there um I mean signed up once and I left so debilitated and intimidated I wouldn't even walk down Union Street for months.
It's not the Coop as an idea that sucks - high quality meat, produce, etc at cheap prices in exchange for 2 hours a month of your time is a great deal - it's the crazy, officiously fascist, 60-something Babyboomer Hippies who started the place in the 70's that make it a very unpleasant place to shop. Frumpy middle-aged women in sandals w/ socks and their male counterparts are so deeply entrenched in the Coop's organization and policies that it's now a completely bloated and ridiculous system. Much like the ones they fought against 30-40 years ago. They love their rules and they love to enforce them.
Not to mention all the semi-employed, unemployed or simply unemployable folks that seem to have nothing better to do except go between the Coop and Tea Lounge all day while the rest of the world actually works.
