With Uncle Moe's closed, where will we get take-out margaritas?
I know it's about three-week old news, but I just realized that Uncle Moe's on 9th Street and 7th Avenue has closed for business. It's safe to say that I wasn't a frequent customer of Uncle Moe's. I mean, I walked past the place every goddamn day for weeks without realizing they were no longer open. But I'm totally bummed! And not because their food was good (believe me -- it wasn't), but because they had take-out margaritas!
Yes, you read that right. Take-out margaritas. As in, they would put a goddamned margarita in a to-go glass and you could walk down 7th avenue drinking it. Sure, it was totally illegal. But that didn't stop me from getting them all the time. They were a staple in my routine during the summer. Stop off at Uncle Moe's. Get take-out margaritas. Go to Prospect Park and drink my afternoon away. Is there a better equation for summer fun?
So I ask you, Park Slope: who will fill the void of Moe's take-out margaritas? I know that Farrells has those giant Styrofoam cups for their beers -- and they often come with lids, making it easy to take home. Anywhere else?
