Warner Brothers Cheaps Out on President Street Block Association

The people who live on President Street are no strangers to film and television production crews taking over their block, and they've gotten smart about asking the production companies for a donation to their block association for the inconvenience when they take away all the parking and park generators in front of their homes. According to our tipster, they've never gotten less than $500 from TV shows like Boardwalk Empire and White Collar. 

As we all know, this week the movie The Intern was filming for two days on 7th and Lincoln, and apparently, they blocked off President Street between 7th and 8th with cones, just for parking their Haddad trailers. When the block association approached the production for their usual kickback donation, they were told that the best they could probably do was $200, if anything, and said they only ended up using 1/3 of the block for parking (even though they closed the entire street), so, you know, discount. Needless to say, the block association is pretty pissed off, given that the budget for a Warner Bros. movie starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway is probably a fuck-ton higher than freaking White Collar. They also had the balls to ask the rep from the block association for help making nice with the 7th Avenue business owners.

Do all block associations get money from the film companies when they take over the joint?
