Turn Your Sad Christmas Tree into Wood Chips!
Don't let this year's dried out Christmas tree become another piece of Sad Stuff on the street. The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, the Department of Sanitation and GreeNYC want you to recycle that bad boy!
You can use this super handy map on the NYC Park's website to find the closest drop-off location. There are a few different chipping spots near Prospect Park, as well as the Prospect Heights community garden on St. Marks. Most sites will be chipping on Saturday and Sunday, January 7th and 8th, from 10AM to 2PM.
What will be come of your old tree, you might ask? It will be thrust into a wood chipper, much like Steve Buscemi's character in Fargo, and turned into mulch, which will then be used to nourish the trees and plants in this fine city. And if you're a lucky son of a bitch with a yard in this 'hood, you can take home your own bag of mulch!
