Battle For Brooklyn Out of Oscar Run, Inspires Haiku

Battle for Brooklyn.

You won't win an Oscar but

You have won my heart.

With regard to the near Oscar nod Michael Galinsky, one of the film's co-directors, tells Park Slope Patch, "We are really pleased by the energy that being on the short list gave the film. It's been on screen in NY almost every week since June and it will continue to show ..."

The film will be playing at the Old American Can Factory in Gowanus this upcoming Monday at 7PM.

Battle For Brooklyn Needs Oscar Money

Battle For Brooklyn, the feature length documentary about the controversial Atlantic Yards project that's OHMYGOSHTHISCLOSE to being an Oscar contender, needs our help. The 8 year-long project has endured costs while qualifying for a golden statue, and filmmakers Suki Hawley and Michael Galinsky are looking for outside support:

We need to make an expensive Digital Cinema Package ($6,000 for that alone!), advertise, travel, and hire publicists.  At a bare minimum, we need to raise 9K.  100% of the money raised will go towards our efforts to bring the film to as wide an audience as possible.

As of this post, they've raised $3,478 of their $9,000 goal, with only 14 more days to go. If you'd like to donate, please do so HERE

Is our nabe headed to the Oscars? Maaaaybe. Battle For Brooklyn, a feature length documentary about the controversial Atlantic Yards project, is one of fourteen films currently in the running for an Oscar nomination.

Husband and wife filmmaker team Suki Hawley and Michael Galinsky spent eight years carving over 500 hours of footage down into the feature length documentary, which has won numerous festival awards, including this year's Rooftop Films Summer Series Official Selection (you can read our FiPS review of the film HERE).
