First: open this song in another tab of your browser as you read this post. You may want to pour yourself a glass of pinot noir and warm up some brie, too.
Second, ask yourself: Have you ever dreamed of being a movie star, but can't act or are just too hideously ugly to make it on the big screen? Don't have any kids to shove in front of a camera yet? Why am I crying as I write this?
If you're having a hard time knowing that you'll never make it big in H-town, no problem! You can live vicariously through your apartment (if it makes the cut). Take out the recycling, consider swiping a mop over those floors and clean your ground-floor Park Slope apartment to perfection, because according to Park Slope Stoop director Cedric Klapsich wants to film Amelie in your apartment. Well at least the actress who played her, Audrey Tautou.
Klapsich is filming a movie entitled Chinese Puzzle, which is the third installment in the L’Auberge/Russian Dolls that started back in 1992. No worries, I IMDB'ed all of this stuff for you. According to the letter below, he'll be needing an apartment to shoot in NYC on September 10 for about 6-8 hours, which in movie terms means that your apartment would likely make it into the film for a total of 30 seconds. But still. It's a great resume builder.
Brownstoner claims that the director is specifically looking for Park Slope locations, whereas Park Slope Stoop reports that they found signs posted in Park Slope which mentioning that they're scouting locations in all of NYC. Here's the letter with the deets:
To Whom It May Concern,
What Moves Me, LLC is currently in pre-production on a new feature film titled “Chinese Puzzle:’ written and directed by Cedric Klapsich (My Piece of the Pie, L’Auberge Espagnole, Reins du Tout). The film is the final installment of a 20 year long trilogy of films that began in 1992 with L’Auberge Espagnole. The critically acclaimed trilogy of films follow the lives of three fictional characters over the last two decades and stars Audrey Tautou (Amelie, The DaVinci Code, L’Auberge Espagnole), Cecile De France (L’Auberge Espagnole, Reins du tout) and Romain Duris (L’Auberge Espagnole). “Chinese Puzzle is set to film in New York City beginning in September of 2012.
At this time, we are actively scouting for a number of locations to showcase in the film and that is why you are receiving this letter. One of the main characters residences is scripted as an NYC apartment which we will showcase in our film. The apartment should be in the ground floor or one flight up. If your residence matches these elements, and you are interested in being considered, please do not hesitate to contact me, Miguel Fernandez 917.691.8276. The first step of the film process is to set up an appointment to come bye and photograph the residence for consideration by the director and designer. If our director and designer respond positively to the photographs we will want to return, in person, for an additional scout. The filming is loosely scheduled for September 10th for approximately 6-8 hours.
Please know that if selected a reasonable location fee will be provided and all pertinent entities will be listed as additional insured on our commercial liability insurance. Also, we will acquire all necessary permits from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.
Thank you for your consideration.
