People Would Rather Sleep With Brooklynites Than Manhattanites

Good news for the lovelorn -- Brooklyn singles are the most desirable in all five boroughs! Or at least among singles who are on match.com. According to the results of an online survey released by the site last week, people in Manhattan are 3% more interested in dating someone in Brooklyn than the other way around. Unfortunately, the site did not ask respondents to identify why they prefer Brooklynites - so we'll have to come up with our own theories. Here are mine - feel free to offer up others...

1) Experimentation. We're like, Manhattan's college lesbian phase. We're dangerous and arty and they'll just end up marrying someone from Manhattan anyway. 

2) They have something to hide. Call me cynical, but if you're going to have an affair, the least you could do is have it in another borough. Or, alternately, you want to go out with someone who your less likely to run into if things go wrong. 

3) Restaurants. Actually I'm pretty sure that's it. Manhattanites (I'm told) used to wring their hands in consternation anytime the NYTimes ran a review of a Brooklyn restaurant. Now it's a given. And if all your friends live in Manhattan good luck finding someone willing to shlep out to somewhere called "Flatbush Avenue" for something called "wood fired pizza." Amiright, Manhattan?!!!? Actually I have no idea - but if you like food and want to double your restaurant options, dating in another borough is probably a good way to go.
