Park Slope Gets Bragging Rights to NYC's First Baby Born in 2014

Bill de Blasio's Mayoral swearing in on his 11th Street stoop wasn't the only big news in Park Slope on New Year's Eve. Park Slope also produced the first baby born in New York City in 2014! A baby girl named Shannon-Lee Willis was born at midnight at Methodist Hospital to parents Samantha Nieves and Shannon Willis. Ms. Nieves told CBS New York:
“That was her plan, to come on New Year’s,” Nieves told CBS 2′s Scott Rapoport. “She told Daddy in a dream that she’ll be here on New Year’s to see him, and she was.
“It’s like winning the Lotto. Who would’ve thought that you would make it 12 o’clock on the dot?”
A baby with a plan in utero -- she sounds very advanced!
I'm sure having a New Year's baby is very exciting for the parents, but doesn't it set the kid up for a lifetime of birthday disappointments? Sure, when she's first old enough to stay up until midnight, she'll hopefully celebrate with her parents and they'll make a big deal about it (one can hope!). But as soon as she's counting on friends to celebrate, she'll either be over-celebrating on the 31st, or dealing with a bunch of hungover friends bailing on planned January 1st celebrations. Either way, she's fucked.
Any FIPSters out there with New Year's birthdays? How's that going for ya?
