New Historic District Expansion Protects More Buildings in Park Slope Than Any Other NYC neighborhood

Yesterday when we asked you guys what your thoughts were on the proposed historic district expansion of Park Slope, you had mixed feelings. Some of you were like, "It's going to fuck over renters who already pay a shit ton of money to live here," while others argued, "These beautiful buildings need to be preserved." One of you said, simply, "I just want to know if I live in Greenwood Heights or not..."

Well, the vote went through and we have been expanded. You can peep the map or read this PDF to get a better sense of the new boundary descriptions. According to the New York Times, Park Slope was already the largest historic district in New York City, but with this new expansion it now "contains the largest contiguous swath of protected buildings in the entire city."

Hear that, Park Slope? We are the most protected. It's like we have Secret Service agents assigned to our neighborhood (except ours would spring for FroYo at Culture, and not hookers).
