[My Favorite Park Slope...] Tree
I like a tree in Prospect Park that’s by the path from the 9th Street entrance, to the Bandshell. I drank my first 40 in a park under this tree. It made a great home base in little-little league (i.e., too old for tee-ball, too young for real ball fields). It was a tree I could--and, under duress, hopefully still can--climb. When all is said and done, it’s a pretty clutch tree. I think I’d call it my favorite Park Slope tree.
Other trees made good contenders, though. There’s one just down the hill from the crosswalk before the baseball fields. I tried to climb that tree with a rope by walking up the side like on the old Batman TV show. And there’s the tree on 7th Street between 8th Ave and PPW that I backed into. It left such a soft dent that my bumper just popped back into shape. And also, the (relatively) little tree outside my bedroom window. All good trees. Trying to pick just one was difficult.
