[My Favorite Park Slope...]: Place To Buy A Six Pack

Photo via www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com / You wouldn’t expect them to have much beyond Bud & Coors, would you?

When it comes to buying a really good six-pack, no one thinks of a chain supermarket like the C-Town on 9th Street. It's a place so thoroughly mediocre that the strongest opinion it elicits on Yelp reads, "the produce, in general, is trustworthy.”

C-Town is where you go for groceries. Bierkraft or Eagle Provisions (depending on what side of 9th street you live on) are where you’re “supposed” to go for a good selection of beer. Right?

Wrong.

Well, only sort-of wrong. Those places do have excellent selections. But somewhere along the line C-Town developed a deep selection of some awesome brews that rivals either of those better-respected joints, including the most awesome beer, my favorite, Long Trail. It's perfect year-around ale that tastes a little bit like heaven. Before being told by a middle-aged stoner DJ that C-Town carried it, I'd never seen Long Trail for sale anywhere outside of Vermont and northwestern Massachusetts.

Yeah, I was always surprised that C-Town of all places had the wherewithal to stock such awesomeness. And yet, there it is. Plus you can pick up stuff like Doritos, cereal and generally trustworthy produce while grabbing a sixer of Long Trail at C-Town. Let’s see Bierkraft do that.
