[My Favorite Park Slope...]: Biscuit

OK, right up front I'll admit that I have not sampled many a biscuits in my time. I lived in Georgia for a few years and had my share of 'em gravy-soaked and lathered in butter, but as far as New York goes, I haven't taken advantage of what the city has to offer.

This no longer matters, because I have found the one biscuit that I want to have for the rest of my life: The Blueprint Biscuit.

Blueprint is this magical place on 5th avenue where my girlfriends and I went for brunch a few weeks back. I ordered the buttermilk biscuits, which came with a small plate of butter, and ramekins of homemade fig jam and apple sauce. All of this deliciousness was served on a lovely wooden board.

The outside was crispy, the inside was moist and not too crumbly. Most attractive, though, was that this biscuit didn't have any lingering flour/baking soda/baking powder taste that I sometimes sense in other biscuits that I've had.

It was delightful, this biscuit.

When I asked our waiter who made them, he explained that he "has a guy" (Jesse Pinkman, I presume) who comes in at 4AM to make them for brunch that day. I would like to meet this man.

Bottom line: if you haven't sampled Blueprint's biscuits yet, I highly recommend them!
