Massive Penthouse Addition Is Pissing Off Park Slope Neighbors 

Some rich person bought a brownstone on 3rd Street just off Prospect Park West for $3.3 million. They want to make it bigger with what sounds like a dope roof deck. The rich people on either side don’t like the idea at all. They’re all arguing and stuff. The Landmarks Preservation Commission are scheduled to make a ruling.

One of the offended neighbor notes that their "chimney would disappear into the new wall and would reappear in mini form 15 feet closer to the front of the house." I'm not exactly sure what this means. But last time I checked, chimneys weren't an aesthetic consideration. As long as it a) lets smoke out and b) lets Santa Claus in, that's all that matters. If I were the neighbor, I'd say "go for it" on the condition that I get invited to their swanky sunroom parties. Now I turn it over to some new correspondents I met at NYCC a few weekends ago.
