Manhattan Couple Searches For Missing Monkey Doll

When I first saw this poster on Flatbush, I thought it meant one of three things:
* A child has not stopped screaming since this thing went missing and the parents are DESPERATE to make that noise stop.
* There was no photo of the REAL pet monkey that went missing, and an artist rendering was too damn expensive.
* It's a trap.
Well FIPS readers, I couldn't have been wrong-er. The true story behind the plastered poster is far more exciting than any of the scenarios listed above.
This past Sunday, a middle-aged couple of the non-romantic kind lost their beloved stuffed monkey while en route to dinner. Bonni Marcus and Jack Zinzi dropped Bongo somewhere between their parked car on Flatbush and a restaurant on 5th avenue.
Via the Brooklyn Paper:
“I walked over to the restaurant, sat down, ordered the food, and reached into my pocket to put Bongo on the table — and saw that he was gone,” Zinzi said. “I tore the car apart. I was in a bad way. Bongo really means a lot to me, so I kind of broke down.
“It happened so fast, because I couldn’t have been in the restaurant 10 minutes before I realized he was gone,” Zinzi continued.
“Somebody must have come along and thought he was as cute as I know he is.”
Bonni and Jack are offering a $500 reward for the return of the 10 year-old Beanie Baby.
I feel for these people... to a degree. I will be the first to admit that I still possess an old, faded pillow from my childhood and yeah, I'd probably be bummed if I lost it. But I'd never bring it to a restaurant and strap it into a booster seat and expect everyone around me to act like it's not the most fucked up thing they've ever seen. I wouldn't bring it to Applebees and order a Bloomin' Onion and then ask the waiter to wrap it up because "Pillow just wasn't hungry tonight I guess."
What do you guys think? Sweet and sad, or just fucking weird?
