Kids Watch 32 Hours of TV a Week

So, according to some shiny new study from Nielsen, 2-5 year old kids watch an average of 32 hours of TV a week; Kids aged 6-11 are only clocking in at around 28 hours a week, cause their asses are in school longer.

I watch about 29 bazillion hours of TV of week.

Now what??

I love how everyone uses this shit as a panic button to confirm that we're all going to hell in a homemade UFO b/c TV is soooooo bad for you...and its melting our brains.

Whatever.

I'm of the Steven Johnson school of thought.

Newsflash: unless you have an additional 32 hours a week to spend with your kid:

• Doing French flash card vocabulary drills.
• Teaching them the difference between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd world countries, and then asking them to point out which are which on a map.
• Helping them to memorize lyrics to the most culturally relevant Beatles songs.

I'd say a few fucking hours of Sponge Bob isn't gonna do your bebes any harm. I started watching General Hospital with my mom every day when I was seven...and I got a full scholarship to college.

BOOM.

"TV is fucking crucial"...deal with it.
