ON THIS DAY IN BK HISTORY (1975):
Wowza! On April 5, 1975 high winds unexpectedly ripped through the entire metropolitan area. It was called the worst April storm in years and it sent winds gusting to over 60 MPH in Brooklyn. "The wind roared through the esplanade on Brooklyn Heights where a lone couple could be seen clutching as much out of necessity as affection." The winds were so strong that the windows of some skyscrapers were blown out and trash was seen flying "in the air like a ticker tape parade." 20 inches of snow was dumped across Upstate NY and New England. 2012's forecast calls for 60% and winds barely breaking 10 MPH.
