Cool or Not Cool: Walking Your Dog While Riding Your Bike...In the Street

So, twice in the past week I've seen dudes on bikes with dogs walking/running on leashes beside them. This was not in Prospect Park, by the way. The first case was in the bike lane on Vanderbilt Avenue, with the dog on the side of moving traffic, and the second was on 6th Avenue, which has no bike lane, and again, the dog was on the side of the passing cars. What the fuck, people?!

This seems like a terrible accident waiting to happen, no? Although, after a little searching of the internets, biking with your dog on a leash is apparently a thing that many people do, and there are even special accessory bars you can purchase, like the Walky Dog Bike Leash. Which, fine, you want to do that on some deserted rode, or in the park, I guess that's okay. But, if you're going to do it in the streets of Brooklyn, at least put yourself between the moving cars and your dog. Yeesh.
