COME ON OUT: FIPS And Google New York Happy Hour (And A Free Dinner)!

Let’s not pretend that the holidays aren’t stressful as hell. Gifts to buy, family to see – it’s like a month and a half full of obligations. But if there’s one thing that we here at FIPS have learned, it’s that booze is the best way to cope through all the ho ho hos. So we’ve teamed up with Google New York to throw a pretty kick-ass holiday happy hour. And you’re invited!

Join us on Tuesday, December 6th at Union Hall from 7-9pm for an absolutely free happy hour. That’s right – FREE...until we blaze through Google's budget and get pushed out of the back area by bocce players. Think of it as a great way to celebrate the holidays without the pressures of pretending to like your family. Happy Chrisanukahwanza and all that shit!

Oh, and get this! the folks at Google New York are feeling the holiday spirit so hard, they’re giving one lucky FIPS reader a free dinner for two at Thistle Hill Tavern. Getting you drunk AND buying you dinner? This means you’re going to probably have to put out. But we know you’re okay with that. 

Want a chance to win the free dinner? Here’s how to enter:

• Go to Google.com/Places and select "Start Rating" (you'll need to create a Google account if you haven't already, but it's 2011, so we're hoping you're still not in aol-ville). 
• Fill out this form by 11:59pm by Sunday, December 4th
• Review as many New York City places (especially ones in Park Slope!) as you like by 11:59pm on Sunday December 4. Each quality review you write will be judged as a new entry. 
• Google Places New York will go through all the reviews you write during the contest period and give them points. Here's what they're looking for:
  • Originality: how creative or original is your review style?
  • Capturing the spirit of the place: how well do you describe the atmosphere of the place?
  • Unique viewpoints: do you bring unique or different viewpoints?
  • Writing style: how well written is your review?
• The entrant with the highest number of points will win dinner for two at Thistle Hill Tavern
• Winners will be notified via email on Thursday, December 5. You must be 21 to enter. For official rules and other legal mumbo-jumbo, click here.

You don’t have to attend the Happy Hour to receive the free dinner, but there may or may not be other prizes being handed out at Union Hall, so it couldn’t hurt to show up (and show up early if you want free boozed).
