No matter how many roles she’s played in the past 18 years, I still think of Chloë Sevigny as “that girl from Kids." The movie used a lot real NYC “street kids,” including a few from Park Slope that my friends knew (not me, because I was too nerdy to hang out with that posse). Hey, remember when we had street kids in Park Slope? The good old days.
Yet the lack of those street kids probably played a big part in Sevigny's decision to move to Park Slope. That, and the mad street cred it will get her with the yuppies. After declaring “I’m still cooler than a lot of actresses,” in a Town & Country interview, Sevigny now has a lot to prove. And there’s no better way to prove you’re cool to the Town & Country crowd than leaving the East Village and coming to Brooklyn.
According to the interview, Sevigny recently bought a classic six* with a view of Prospect Park. She plans on moving there with her boyfriend. When asked if she planned to breed and join the Stroller Mafia, Sevigny only commented that there were a lot of twins in the building. I believe that means, yes, we can expect to get stroller-bumped by that girl from Kids in the not-to-distant future.
While I reflect on how surreal that is to me, feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments. Especially if they involve Telly or Casper (the dopest ghost around).
* For you real estate neophytes who, like me, will end up googling “what the hell is a classic six, anyway?” let me save you the trouble : “Classic Six is a six-room apartment floor plan found in buildings built in New York City prior to 1940. It consists of a formal dining room, a living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms, a smaller bedroom sometimes referred to as a maid's room, and one or two bathrooms.”
