Boombox Parade Invades Park Slope
Have you got the boombox spirit in you? A local group called Make Music New York is organizing an interactive boombox parade this Wednesday night @ 7:15PM that will stretch from Grand Army Plaza to JJ Byrne Park.
The event, called "Make Music Winter," is "a free, outdoor, participatory musical event that turns audiences into music makers. Inspired by Phil Kline's annual Unsilent Night – the boombox parade that has become an international tradition and takes place December 17 in NYC this year – Make Music Winter will launch twelve innovative musical projects into New York’s cityscape."
The group will provide the necessary casette tapes (I don't think I've written those two words since I penned an open letter in my diary to the asshole who stole my Boyz II Men: Motown Philly casette tape), but if you have your own boombox, bring it. And for you iPod lovin', Kindle-carrying kids without these wonderful, musical shoulder weights, fret not! The group will have extras.
