ALL THOSE FUCKED UP PARK SLOPE SIDEWALKS ARE OUR RESPONSIBILITY AND NOT THE CITY'S??

Ok, this is seriously news to me.

FIPS reader Matt sent along this passive agressive note that was left on his front door by a local judge. Based on this person's ranty missive (and veiled threat of a lawsuit), it seems like the implication here is that all of those uneven, janky Park Slope sidewalks are OUR responsibility to fix and not the city's?! Hunh?!

SERIOUSLY?

If you've spent more than 11 seconds walking around our fine nabe, you're well aware of the fact that's it's virtually impossible to walk up or down any of our blocks without tripping and almost breaking your face. Some blocks are worse than others (Union btwn 7th Ave and 8th Ave, I'm looking at you), but pretty much every block has been booby trapped for tripping you. I'm guessing this is because all the roots of all these old trees are moving around under the concrete and it's fucking shit up on the sidewalk.

In fact, over the last several weeks, I've seen city vehicles all over the nabe, fixing up some of these janky sidewalks, re-paving the whole works.

But according to Mr. or Ms. passive/agressive Judge, this is all on us?

I mean, how would that even work? I just decide I want to do sidewalk work in front of my building, I hire someone and OOPSIE! There are Verizon cables, and sewage pipes and all sorts of other shit there and I should just go crazy??
