[Review'd] Bareburger!

After much anticipation, 7th avenue's Bareburger has finally ripped down the brown paper and opened its doors! This is the restaurant's fourth location in New York City, and the first in Brooklyn. This past Wednesday night I stopped by with two of my girlfriends for some burgers and milkshakes. There was great food, an obscure celeb sighting and we even had our pictures taken for the Brooklyn paper! All in all, not a bad fucking evening.

BREAKING: Naidres's Now Serving Culture Yogurt

Yep, it's true. As of this Friday, Naidre's Cafe is serving up our favorite-y favoritest Park Slope treat: Culture yogurt!

They're not serving the fro yo, but will instead offer up the low-fat greek style (ish) yogurt with granola, fruit and honey. YUM.

And apparently they've got quite a few more changes in the works. From owner Janice Pullicino:

"New vegan/vegetarian recipes are in development using tempeh from Barry's Tempeh and we will be switching over to Park Slope based Brooklyn Bread. We're also finalizing details on an upstate NYS farm who will be providing us with local, cage free eggs (our current eggs are already organic, just not local)."

Yay for two cool local businesses teaming up!

[Review'd] Dekalb Market!

In New York City these days, food markets are a dime-a-dozen and it seems like there are new ones popping up all the time. In late May, we were introduced to the Smorgasburg Food Market up in Williamsburg. Two weeks back we got the first monthly Food Truck Rally at Grand Army Plaza.

This past weekend brought the opening of Dekalb Market, an outdoor market that's located directly outside of the Dekalb Ave subway stop.

Get Pizza! Get Whacked?

Photo via Pardon Me For Asking

Do you like eating Italian food in a joint steeped in nostalgia and a history of mob ties? If so, you're in luck, paisan.

Monte's Venetian Room, an Italian restaurant at 451 Carroll Street -- a mere waft from the Gowanus Canal -- has just reopened. The famed eatery, which closed under questionable circumstances back in 2008, is so old that when it first opened, America's favorite rough rider, Teddy Roosevelt, was in the White House, and cholera was still a real possibility. THAT'S OLDSAUCE.

Park Slope Fatoosh is Dunzo

A FIPS reader just sent us this photo, which was snapped in front of Middle Eastern joint Fatoosh on 5th ave. Ugh. Now devotees are gonna' have to trek ALL the way to Brooklyn Heights in this heat wave to get their Fatoosh falafel fix.
